At a council meeting held in Estepona on Friday 19 councillors out of 21 approved a project to enable the Saudi royal family to build 1,400 luxury properties in the town. In exchange, the council will be given a 49,000 square metre plot of land on which to build 413 subsidised houses (VPO).

Clinical trials for the development of a "vaccine" against cocaine addiction will begin in Spain in the first quarter of 2009, the Health Ministry said on Thursday. The tests, in which about 170 volunteers will participate, will be carried out in 10 hospitals that have not yet been selected.
