Local Area

The Costa Blanca is now recognised as one of the most cosmopolitan
areas in Europe. Along it's untouched coastline you will find
hillsides covered with terraced vineyards, lush-green citrus
orchards and breathtakingly pretty towns whose narrow streets
lead down to flower-filled squares.
|
 |
Known as the ‘Market Garden of Europe’, there are plenty
of daily markets to visit. Here you can find a mouth watering
array of fresh fish ( landed daily at the local port of Torrevieja),
meats and every conceivable variety of fruit and vegetables
including the world famous Valencian oranges and lemons. The
acclaimed ‘Mediterranean diet’ is recommended by doctors for
healthier, balanced, nutritional meals, giving Southern Costa
Blanca the added benefit of being recommended by the ‘World
Health Organisation’ as one of the healthiest environments
to live in Europe.
|
|
The 'White Coast' offers a healthy climate
of over 340 days of sunshine each year and a uniquely dry
micro-climate with remarkably low rainfall all year round.
Rated to have the healthiest climate in Europe and second
in the world,it is small wonder then that The World Health
Organisation has seen fit to label the area, 'Almost as perfect
an environment as it is possible to obtain'.

All 23 sandy beaches along the Mediterranean coastline have been
awarded the Triple European Blue Flag. There are numerous Marinas,
and an excellent selection of championship Golf courses including
Villamartin, Las Ramblas and Campoamor.
Themed attractions include:
The
Costa Blanca is one of the main International golf resorts all year
long. Players can enjoy a fully equipped network of courses with
unsurpassed sports facilities and, what is more, an enviable climate
suitable for the sport with temperatures ranging from 60F in January
to 90F in August. These facts along with the very few rainy days
per year have made it one of Europe's main golf destinations, especially
in winter.
All golf resorts have been designed by prestigious golfers like
Severiano Ballesteros or Jose Maria Olazabal. Golf can be played
all over the Costa Blanca coastline, close to great tourist and
business resorts.
In all the golf courses there are schools with fully qualified intructors
to teach you how to play golf as well as all related services such
as trolleys, buggies, clubs and practice areas for hire. Also available
are supplementary services like booking points, cafeteria, baby
sitting, medical service, swimming pool, social club, sauna, games
rooms, hotel and car park.

Villamartin. Established for 25 years. This championship
golf course was the venue for the P.G.A. Mediterranean Open
1994, an event which attracted such well known golfers as
Severiano Ballesteros, Jose Maria Olazabal, Frank Nobilo,
Ernie Ells and Howard Clark. Many other competitions also
take place, both Pro-Am and amateur and are sponsored by such
household names as Mercedes, JB Whisky, Corte Ingles, Audi,
Rolex etc. This is the oldest of the three local golf courses
and is really breathtaking in its beauty. Playing over undulating
fairways to well protected greens, no two holes are alike
on this superb course.
|

Campoamor was opened in 1989 and although not as hazardous
as Villamartin, it is the most panoramic of the courses in
the region. The expansive fairways, excellent greens and lakes
deceive the player somewhat, making this a long and testing
course with six "dog legs" to keep you on your toes. The beautiful
Club House of Campoamor which has recently been built offers
the golfer and local resident bars and restaurant facilities
with spectacular views overlooking the lush green fairways.

Las Ramblas will challenge you, requiring accuracy
from tee to green has a lush maturity testimony to the wonderful
climate and the care and attention that has been lavished
on it.
From this beautiful, elevated scenic area, sits ‘Las Ramblas’
with breathtaking views to the coast. This beautiful course
offers to both golfers and non-golfers natural countryside
and other sporting recreational facilities. As the name suggests,
a wonderful rambling course through valleys and over rugged
terrain with the occasional water hazard, an excellent challenge!
|

If this is not enough, then the spectacular La Manga
complex is also within an hour's drive.
La Manga is a world-famous Mecca for golfers, and is the
headquarters of the European PGA. It boasts two well-established
championship 18-hole courses and a third newer 18-hole course,
La Princesa. All three courses are set in beautiful countryside
among the palms.

Torrevieja (45km south of Alicante airport) is an old fishing town,
with its own harbour and small fishing fleet. Bounded by the beautiful
Mediterranean on one side and thousands of acres of fruit groves
inland, the scenery is breathtakingly beautiful and within moments
you can be driving in picturesque open countryside, where you can
stop and pick a fresh orange or lemon and enjoy the fabulous bounty
that nature has gifted to this part of the world.
On Fridays the town centre of Torrevieja
is transformed into a colourful market place. Every week you can
find an astounding array of bargains, genuine Spanish handicrafts,
leather jackets, gloves, bags, baskets, shoes, pottery, textiles
and souvenirs. You may choose from hand-painted pottery jars, beautifully
decorated porcelain plates and tablecloths embroidered with that
dash of Spanish flair.
This is an area where there is plenty
to do for both golfers and non golfers alike, in both areas, with
beaches, watersports, Safari Park, horse riding, shopping and general
sightseeing all close by. There are four cities within an hour's
drive - Alicante to the north, Elche to the north west, Murcia to
the west and Cartegena to the south and two major international
airports close by - Alicante and Murcia's San Javia - both within
40 minutes drive.
